Committing to a Healthy Lifestyle – Tammy’s Story

One of the things that make our jobs at Wilcox Wellness & Fitness so rewarding is seeing the incredible progress that our clients make to transform their lives in a relatively short period of time. Tammy McLaughlin is one of those incredible stories. Tammy has come such a long way in just a short period of time. She has completely changed her life by committing to a healthy lifestyle that she will be able to sustain for the rest of her life.

Behind the Scenes at Wilcox: How Schaeffer – A Wilcox Trainer sees the other trainers!

Trainers can sometimes be intimidating! What I love about our community at Wilcox is we are all real people! I work with the most amazing crew I could ever ask for, and this is how I see the training team at Wilcox Wellness Fitness!

A Life Without Limitations

This past week my family and I took a 3-day trip hiking into Zealand Falls Hut in the White Mountains. While we were in the hut, we had the pleasure of meeting many amazing people, one of whom was Greybeard. Dale (Greybeard) is a thru-hiker on a mission to hike the entire Appalachian Trail. As if that wasn’t impressive enough – at 82 years old, Dale is working on setting the world record to be the oldest person to complete the mission.

Benefits of working out while pregnant

We often receive questions regarding working out while pregnant. This is something that I feel passionately about as a mother who enjoyed the benefits of being active during my pregnancies and as an owner of a health and wellness facility. Making the decision to continue working out (particularly in a controlled, safe training environment) is a very personal one. As with anything, we recommend doing your own research and determine if the benefits of an active lifestyle will outweigh any potential risks. Here are a few of the health benefits to the mother and baby that were factors in my decision to continue working out throughout my pregnancies.

How to talk your way through your workout

Everybody has those days when they “just aren’t feelin’ it.” It could be the weather that has you down or you haven’t gotten enough sleep but for whatever reason, you just can’t get yourself jacked up enough for your training session. It happens to everyone. Hopefully, some of my mental chatter will help you crush your next workout.

Slow your roll – Chew your food

Food is one of life’s greatest pleasures and should be enjoyed slowly and deliberately. Chewing your food allows you to appreciate and savor the taste of the delicious food. Taking the time to slowly chew your food also plays a very important role in your digestion.

It is not about how much you can lift, how fast you can go, or any fancy fitness tricks.

It is not about how much you can lift, how fast you can go, or any fancy fitness tricks.  It is not about what you do in the gym. It is about what you do in the gym that prepares you for everything else in life. It is about being capable and confident. It’s about living your best life, having fun, being inspired, and being excited!

Connect With Your Why, Stir Your Soul

Your WHY needs to stir your soul. Your WHY needs to get you up on a rainy day in May to get to the gym when all you want to do is make a fortress out of pillows. Your WHY needs to drive you to order the salad over the fried clams. Your WHY needs to be stronger than anything else.

How a working mom of 5 committed to healthy living and started feeling AWESOME again

Life is just so busy. We are pulled in so many different directions. We have commitments at work, with our families, and in the community. Taking care of ourselves and committing to healthy living falls to the bottom of the list.

This works OK for a period of time. Eventually, it will catch up with us and being all things to all people leaves us feeling depleted and drained at the end of the day.

In order to be at our best for the people who rely on us, we need to commit first to taking care of ourselves. ‘You need to put your oxygen mask on first.’

See how a busy mom of 5 committed to healthy living and made massive impact on her life.
