My name is Paige Wilcox and my husband and I own Wilcox Wellness & Fitness. We have a team of 4 full-time trainers and together, our mission is to help people enhance their lives by forming healthful habits that are sustainable for a lifetime. We have been in business in Bangor since 2012 and have worked to help hundreds of people achieve their health and fitness goals. We love to see the positive ripple effect that is created when people commit to their health and fitness.
My personal mission has always been to make the world a better place. I went to business school at the University of Maine and received my Masters in Business Administration. I love how businesses can shape and mold the culture of a community. I always knew that I wanted to own my own business and through that business, I wanted to work to make the world a better, more beautiful place. That is exactly what I wrote in my college acceptance essay. My favorite childhood book was Mrs. Rumphius – a story of a little girl’s great aunt, Mrs. Rumphius, who made the world a more beautiful place by spreading lupine seeds from Maine all over the world. I wrote in my essay that I did not yet know how I would make the world a better place but I knew I would do that through business. I believe that an idea or strategy for healthy living is just like a seed and when it is nourished, it will germinate, flower, and then reproduce by self-seeding just like lupines.
My husband, Mike and I met in 2006 – he was a long-time personal trainer and I was always so inspired by the work that he did and the impact that he is able to make on the lives of his clients, their families, and the community. When people commit to health and fitness, everything else in their lives falls into place.
It is absolutely amazing to me – people who commit to healthy living have a better relationship with their family, they are able to advance more quickly in their careers, and overall their outlook on life in general is so much more positive. This not only effects the individual who is benefiting from the healthy lifestyle but everyone surrounding them – their spouse, children, boss, employees, co-workers, and even the mail man. This is the change in the world that I am so honored and excited to be part of.
This blog, Inspire Healthy Living is focused on actionable strategies for healthy living that are going to make a major impact on your life. I will be working with our trainer team to cover a broad range of health and fitness topics that can be easily integrated into your daily life. At Wilcox Wellness & Fitness, we are passionate about helping people live their very best life and we believe that the foundation for an amazing life starts with a commitment to healthy living.
John Maxwell wrote, “Ultimately, people do not decide their future; they decide their habits and their habits decide their future.” The amazing thing about a habit is that it is automatic – you don’t even think about it. We want to help people form healthful habits: eating whole nourishing foods, working out consistently, stretching, and being well hydrated so that they can excel at every other aspect of their life.
Research shows that it takes 21 days to form a habit so whenever you are implementing something new into your daily life, give yourself time and some grace to make it happen. Habits are difficult to change and it is not going to happen over night. So if you are working on trying to increase your water intake, don’t expect to be perfect on day 1. You have 21 days to work at this habit before it feels more natural and sticks. Be patient and be kind to yourself throughout the process of forming these habits.
I hope that by writing this blog, we will be able to inspire you to commit to your health and wellness.
